UrSafe

It’s actually a very simple webcam solution. It all started when a couple of neighbourhood kids in my area started to act stupid around my house. It was all from shooting balls at my door and annoying my dog. It just had to stop, kids being what they are, just kids. I had to make a proper solution not involving any violence or aggravations. So it went to this.

First I was aware or a program called Pryme, pryme was a simple freeware webcam utitlity with the brilliant programmed “movement detector” this little thing actually made simple webcams to security cameras. Later on after testing this solution on a server, it did the job good enough to monitor my door for atleast a day until it crashed. Some months after the developer released another version called TinCam. Much more stable and allot mot functions. Easy enough, you can set it to ftp pictures to a page, send you emails with pictures and so on. This opened allot of opportunities for me, I made some batchscripts to clean out the storage where are the log picture files where stored, made a Security Cam server on a laptop (because if It where to a blackout like in a Mission Impossible movie, this server could keep on going for 3 hours more on battery life). I’ve been using this strategy for a few years now. Configured so that the first camera that monitors my door send out a notice signal on the speakers when someone is in front of it, another camera monitoring my street so that I can see where the person came from and later went away…

This is how it looks…

The server and the camera from my house…

The door outside…

And this is the little rascals I’ve captured and alerted their parents…

It even prevents me from getting off my chair when I’m working when I see that it’s the Jehovahs at the door (no sir, no propaganda here thank you)… The other one is a friend of mine, actually the boss for “codebox.se”.

Here is another solution I found recently to this home security solution; a portable alarm that triggers when it detect motion in it’s area. Perfect for this solution if someone is breaking an entry. You can’t get safer than this? …

So as you can see, the possibility of security like this is endless, and I’m currently working on a car security solution where a GPRS solutions send out a distress call with a picture of the thief stealing your car at that very moment.

There is yet more to come here about that.
